ARTWORK OF THE WEEK
Designs by TIMOTHY CO and JEAH DOMINGUEZ
Tim Co on his creation of the gruffs:
I created the gruffs because I wanted to be able to do something special for the Ateneo LEX. As the new CC AVP of advertising, I wanted to show everyone that I'm willing to do my best for LEX.
At first I had a hard time thinking about how to create the gruffs. It really took me awhile to figure out how to make them. However, I ended up molded them one by one. It took a lot of time, but I honestly think that it was worth it in the end because hopefully, the gruffs I made would be part of the Ateneo LEX for awhile.
I made a total of 6 gruffs, 4 of them are boys and the latter 2 are evidently twin girls. I made the gruffs with the core competencies of LEX in mind as well. In my mind they were all somehow related.
Like how the twins would represent business ethics and how the red and orange gruffs looked like bad-ass lawyers while the green and blue one looked like hardworking businessmen. =)) Producing the gruffs ended up to be a lot of fun for me, and I'm glad that
this task was given to me!
Jeah Dominguez on co managing the branding of the lex gruffs:
Lex, for me, has always been just this fun, familial business law org where everybody can relate to, even the ones who aren’t LM and aren’t inclined to business law. I feel like it’s a place where everyone can find a home. And what better way to brand the org than with gruffs! To me, the gruffs mean a lot of things.
They’re cute because they signify our being fun and creative people. They’re of different colors because they represent the different kinds of people who join Lex.
They’re all of the same type of species because when the push comes to shove, no matter how different our colors may be, we are all bound by something much stronger than that, our being Lexilistas (sic or Lexers)
If there’s one thing I’m really proud of about the gruffs, it’s that they are like blank canvases. They can be anything they want themselves to be – like clowns, santa’s elves, dora the explorer, johnny bravo, harry potter, etc. And that says something. You can be anything you set yourself to be.
And at the same time, you have to learn to be versatile because you never know what life has in store.
